Thai Fish Head and Yam Hotpot - Jia Tong Heng Chinese Restaurant Chiangmai

Good Chinese food in Chiangmai has gone upmarket. This fine dining place is spacious and has lots of rooms for small functions and large banquets. I remembered dining a few times at their restaurant near the Night Bazaar like 20 years ago. They were famous for the piglet. However, they are larger than what we have here in Malaysia.  But still Chinese restaurants are not the most popular in Thailand. Thais just loved the Korean, Japanese and Western food. Just go to any malls and you will see a queue formed during meal times.

I just love the rich taste coming from the soup. The yam has shed some of its starch and it has gone into the soup making it thick and giving it some texture when drinking it. Ingredients were fresh and the fish thick and generous. Another of their specialty will be the braise duck. You will not regret it. The four season dish was not as what we get in Malaysian Chinese banquet and it lacked organisation and presentation for all the four parts. The matching of the parts were also found a bit wanting. Could be better. And finally the oyster soup dish as can be seen was quite starchy.
