Vietnam, Saigon Food - Common Dishes and Sinh To (Part 4)
This post will look at a few common dishes South Vietnamese eat. It is cheap and available everywhere. The other favourite is their fruit smoothie/shake.
Goi Cuon Tom - Vietnamese Shrimps Spring Roll
Ingredients: Poached Shrimps, chives, lettuce, pork, vermicelli noodles, cucumber, basil and rice paper. Dips - Spicy Peanut sauce.
Indigenous to the Mekong Delta.
Ingredients: Uses catfish, pineapple, bean sprout, tomato, lady fingers, scallions and tamarind flavoured soup. Dip the catfish fillet into the fish sauce before eating.
Ingredients: Lean fillet steak, fish sauce, yellow onions and ground black pepper.
Can substitute with fish and shrimps.
Ingredients: Caramel Sauce, lean pork, fish sauce and black pepper.
Ingredients: Pork loin, caramelized sauce, lemongrass, ground pepper and fish sauce. The smell from the grill is a 'killer'.
I have a few glasses a day. RM1.50 each. It is RM2.00-3.00 at cafes. Obviously strawberry will costs more. Solid. Fruits all the way. There are so many varieties of fruit from Mekong Delta and Dalat Highlands (like Cameron Highlands) that one is spoil for choice.
