Restoran Hoppy Duck, Aman Puri, Kepong

Postscript: This shop is closed for business. In its place is a dim sum joint called Hong Kee.

3-51-A, Jalan Desa 2/1, Desa Aman Puri, Kepong. Tel: 03-62802378
Most men loves their herbal 'dong guai' duck. Count me in too. Since the closure of their Sunway shop I have not eaten herbal duck. Its a pleasant surprise to find one in Aman Puri.

Their flagship dish would definitely be this herbal duck. The meat is thick and succulent just as I like it. My main complaint when eating duck is it not thick enough to be chewed on and have its juices enjoyed. This dark meat usually have a strong smell like game meat. But it is nicely paired with dong guai and the taste of the meat is enhanced and its strong smell masked by the herbs. The restaurant set-up is pleasant and chairs were placed on the side walk. Some MSG in their food.
Hoppy Duck - 8/10
Roast pork is average - 6/10 (RM16)
Good with plain wanton noodles - RM1.50 a plateChinese Spinach in Superior Soup. The century eggs is very rough. Probably over-fried. Soup was tasty. - 6.5/10 (RM8.00)
Tofu - 6.5/10 (RM7.00)
Butter Prawns. Over done and oily but passed the taste test with flying colours - 7/10 (RM22.00)

NKontB... yes with all the warning from the womenfolk that Dong Kwai is for women only. Fortune favours the brave ones. My makan kaki (mostly men) loves this dish.

LI... The smell explodes ones sense of smell and the taste explodes in ones mouth!
