Restoran Kong Sai Chicken Rice, Paramount Garden, PJ
We took a kampong white chicken or (Pak Cham Choy Yuen Kai). Half a chicken was a bit on a greedy side and we could not finish. The reason was their portion served was generous. And fully intended to have a full meal, we also ordered a veg and a soup.
Food here was value for money. No wonder the crowd were pouring despite the Sunday's Pasar Malam was right outside. Good thing we were eating an early dinner. But not to worry, service was quick.
The chicken was as good as any kampong chicken should be. Taste good, firm and never watery or soft. It could stand alone for sweetness, but was enhanced by the light soy sauce and the heavy and thick condiments.
We had the best of both worlds. Subtle and strong tastes. The condiments was a mixed of ginger, coriander and spring onions. It would have been exceptional if a bigger proportion of ginger was used. But it was still addictive.
Our Pig's stomach pepper soup was stronger in the department of saltiness. It would have done well if the soup base has a stronger stock from pig's bones. The peppery spiciness was also compromised.
The bitter gourd and egg were with little salt and oil which was a more modern and healthier interpretation for today's more conscious of health's customers. It relied on the plain sweet taste of the fresh gourd and the freshness of the eggs. Overall a good eat.
