Padang's Best Seafood
From Batam I flew out to Padang to check out the rebuilding of houses for the earthquake victims in a village 1 1/2 hours away from Padang city.
In the evening I had these seafood over 2 nights. Fishes just landed from the boats in the afternoon. These were some of the most handsome fishes and prawns I have seen for a long time. Check this short post out. More later.
The shrimps were from the sea and amazingly large at 7 pieces per kilogram. Wed had four of this giants. The pail looks small with these. Price is at RM56 per kilo.
Trevally or a kind of pomfret. We had this 0.6 kilogram of pure pleasure. Price is also at RM25 per kilo. Meaty and brings another dimension in taste compared to their cousins with scales.Kind of Seabass. We find the meat a bit too soft. It is 0.6 kilogram. Also RM25 per kilo.

I had this 1 kilogram whopper of a Red Grouper. You will never guess the price. It is at RM30 per kilo plus cooking. Any style!
