Peter's Pork Noodles - Brickfields, KL

Where are all the good pork noodles stalls? Is there a famine in these simple pleasures of life? I used to eat this in my college days almost every night. There was this rolly polly of a man (a good advertisement for his food) who dished out pot after pot of this goodness for us hungry young souls.

There was this stall that I fell in love at first sight. Taken there by a friend after attending a noon funeral service, we have a solemn but hearty lunch. We need to eat to live right? Of course some confess that they live to eat! It was a corner shop at the T-junction, a confluence for those coming in from trendy Bangsar into Jalan Travers and then traditional/ethnic Brickfields.

I took my family there once with the promise that they will be eating the best pork noodles around. But alas it was closed and then later I found out that they have moved out of the premise which is vacant now and for rental. Makes no sense to me.

This stall has graced Brickfields for umpteen years. So I called this friend of mine and he told me the same story. He at least has the directions to this place. We set out to look for this stall. Instead of one now they have two. The father has moved into a food court (P/S called May Flower) next to a open car park (RM2.00/hr) a few hundred meters down the road (Jalan Tun Sambanthan) in the direction of KL. The son is running another stall in Restoran Yit Seang which is directly facing the main entrance of YMCA. Park inside YMCA (RM2.00/hr) and cross the road. We ate and 'ta pau' at the son's stall as it was the father's rest day. Nothing's lost.

Lots of minced and sliced pork plus liver. Tasty soup base (though some MSG was present) and the star attraction a half cooked egg. My friends MO is to order 2 eggs and slurped it down. I re-positioned mine on top of the noodles without breaking its yolk. It was good all the way without the unpleasant uncooked yolkish smell.

I feel warm and comforted all the way to my toes just looking at that yolk featured pork noodles! There's a pretty reliable stall here in my neighbourhood run by an old couple, but I ought to venture out and try this one to compare!

Joe... You are right, it's Mayflower.

NKotB... Penang? offering soup noodles. Must be really good.

Faith... Hehehe, I just loved the eggs kind of remind me of my childhood.

Allie... Slide down my mouth smoothness:)

The noodles look like the King street KTT which NKOTB refer. And it tastes very nice. I bet the pork noodles must be very delicious. ^o^

seeing this nice bowl of noodle...made me feel like having it for lunch...after all swine flu doesnt infect by taking pork,,,,haha
As you say this noodles thing is a simple boiled and soak dish , but we have already voted it as the slowest commercial nooldes dish on earth which was supposed to be the fastest.

Compare with the Ayer Itam laksa man n team in Penang who is 100 times faster !

or the slow CKTman who is supposed to be slow but become fast !

Maybe its supposed to be slow and steady !

Many people say the one in Subang Jaya ss15 somewhere Jln 15/4B is the best

This Peter's Pork Noodle (father's stall)is best for the moment (for me), penang's instant KTT hardly bit this.
My favorite is to eat it with Bee Thai Bak, just like worldwindows said, leave the egg yolk in the soup till the last. The best cook is still the father, not the worker.

The Food Court Name is Money's Corner if im not wrong.

FP... As some said the father's does it better, I will agrees so. However, this is bowl is good.

TNG... Wow. Reminds me of good old-fashioned stalls that has a loyal following.

MD... The yolk was attractive and bright almost saved it for last stuff.

Ling239... And both stalls are at better locations and not stifling hot compared to old place.

BB... More beneath the noodles! Really!

Selba... The egg was a strong incentive to go there.

BBO... YMCA. Coming from a baker I will have to agree on your description on the yolk.

SG... Can't live without pork lah esp my generation.

BBG... Thanks for the tip on the SS15 stall. Will check it out with my lunch mates.

FB... Wow and from a local KLite?

LY... Sign of times. A lot of movements and big boys taking over old shops for cafes and modern eateries.

PG... I was afraid it will burst but it was made from sterner stuff. Just or the pics.

GG... Yes I agree. Mine was done by the son. I know the father's stall is in a food court next to Mayflower building (landmark given by locals) and a big open car park.

Many thanks for your post on Peter's pork mee! I have been wondering where they have moved to. I have enjoyed the pork noodle since early 80's till I moved out of Brickfields in 1990 and since then, I have visited it once every few months. The BEST in town!
