Rustico Neapolitan Street Food - Bexhill-on-Sea, UK

This Italian Restaurant came highly recommended. There are numerous restaurants here from Gurkha to Chinese. Some opened just for dinner. You have to be good to compete for customers.

I was starved for some meat as I would go under the food radar when travelling. Cannibale seems too good to be true. It's freshly baked doughy pizza bedecked with meat: chicken, ham, cured sausage and pancetta or a salt cured pork belly. I couldn't finish and had to doggy bag a third.

Who can resist a mixed platter and street food at that? Especially when nibbling at various dishes. The favourite past times of kids and adults when no one is watching. Frittura, a street food from Naples, is a famous deep-fried small bites. There were four on this platter.

For those who love deep-fried stuff and fritters here is the Italian version. Dough is filled with various cheeses, sauces and some meat and sausage. It was a doughy and cheesey dish. And I am sure many carbo and cheese lovers will be happy with these concoctions.

From their menu: Pizza filled with ricotta (cheese), salsiccia (sausage), pancetta (pork belly) and mozzarella, Potato Crocché (mashed potatoes with egg), Mozzarella in Carrozza (Mozzarella sandwich), Fried Pizza bread with pomodoro (tomotao sauce) and Parmigiano (cheese).

Last, we had folded baked Pizza Margherita. Always a joy when having good Mozzarella and tomato sauces done Italian way. Who knew how to treat fresh, sun ripened but the Italians.

It was said that during a visit to Naples of Queen Margherita of Savoy, wife of King Umberto I, chef Raffaele Esposito of Pizzeria Brandi and his wife created a pizza resembling the colours of the Italian flag, red tomato, white mozzarella and green basil (taken from website).
