Yew Yeong Kopitiam - Sungai Pinang Kecil, Pangkor Island, Perak

Our humble hotel was sited at Sungai Pinang Besar, so its natural for us to walk towards town and looked for our meals. Yew Yeong was one of the few at the Chinese fishing village. A main road and 2 rows of shops. Where space allowed, there were 2 parallel roads with more shops.

They have a simple menu and the cook was right in front of the shop, so one can observe the entire set up and proceedings. Nothing was left to imaginations and when it comes to food it is good. We saw westerners who were regulars coming. They seems to be regulars by their conversations with the cook.

We settled down and asked for recommendations. A good sign that we have relaxed and warmed up to Yew Yeong. On the menu was deep-fried shark meat and sea eel in dark sauces. There were not only exotic for city dwellers but also tasty. Needless to say it was they were fresh from the sea.

Deep-fried shark meat. Long cartilage/bones here and there so in the rush to eat when hungry, can be a hazard. Aromatic from the mixture of batter and spices and the meaty goodness. Must have!
Prawn Noodles, what not to like it when you have super fresh just caught a few hours ago prawns. Enjoyed the simple soya and thick sauces. Carbo and seafood fix were done.
Sea eel will soya and thick sauces again but the meat was tender and soft yet firm and holding itself. With a handful of dried chilli the sauce was savoury and hot. Great for this sea eel.
What you see is what you get!
