Gudeg Ayam Kampung - Jogjakarta, Indonesia

We arrived at almost midnight in Jogjakarta on the 8^th July (Tuesday). This is the place where the ancient Buddhist Borobodur is.

Not having our dinner as yet we joined the local Javanese in having a late meal along the five foot way. No tables and chairs. Patrons will sit on the sidewalk with mats.

I went to order the food: chicken stew in coconut milk, steamed young jack fruit, hardboiled egg and steamed rice.

As with the East Java food it is a bit on the sweet side. However, nothing can beat the atmosphere and the localness of the meal.
