New Hoong Kee Wanton Noodles - Bandar Sri Damansara
Got wind of this famous branch of one of the Hoong Kee in Kepong or Ampang. Anyone in the know can enlighten? I arrived at 755am as they were just about to start the day.
The noodles were of finer strands than the usual Wanton noodles and were cooked to perfection i.e. al dente. The sauces (thick soy and thin soy sauces) were a well balanced sweet and savoury with a hint of lard. Don't miss these noodles even if you are on a carb-free diet.
Wanton noodles is not complete without the Char Siew (BBQ Pork). These were really succulent morsels. Well caramelised and charred at parts exposed to the fire. One of the best with tender meat and well marinated. It was both tasty and smoky from the fire and also caramelisation.
The Wanton was found waiting without any identifiable strong characteristics, they was nothing to praise it for. However. The Sui Kow (dumplings) was top drawer stuff. It has a good size prawn inside and with the usual pork, peas and jicama etc. Even the skin was smooth and lovely to taste.
Looking at my amazing platter, with its full complement of Kai Lan vege, well sauced minced pork And Char Siew, I left a happy man.
My ratings at a glance:
Noodles - A
Char Siew - B+
Sui Kao - B+
Wanton - C
