Acha Curry House - Jalan Gasing
You get big choices of thick curry gravies for your rice. Even if you don't, spoon it onto your veges or just enjoy it on its own for the fun and taste of it. The enticing one was the Salted Fish curry. Imagine, those days where meat was hard to come by, this one would be an appetite opener for the plain rice to drum rolls of joy.
The location off Jalan Gasing is the place for alot of non-Mamak Indian Curry eateries. They are easily over 10 of them. And competition is stiff. If they are no good, then it's the packing up for for them.
Acha has been around for easily 20+ years if I recalled. It's not really a shoplot as it uses the corner lot space of a shop. An extended roof and viola a tuckshop or canteen. I recalled their tasty deep-fried Tenggiri years ago. Still as fresh and piping hot, this time slightly overdone.
The lamb curry was delicious but we arrived an hour before closing, so we got some small bits with the regular ones. The chicken curry was flavourful and the fried chicken was piping hot and tender enough, though if they removed it from the oil 5 minutes earlier, it would have more moist within.
They meat dishes did not come piled up. It was a reasonable portion therefore reasonably priced. There is a co-relation between the two alright! Do note, try out their Sambal Ikan Bilis. Their Ikan Bilis were fresh and their onions that went with were still visible. The mix was done post frying of the Ikan Bilis. Which means there were steps observed to get desires results.
I liked that they used small ladle/spoon ladle up the curries and vegetables. Waste not. This will keep the cost down, which I will talk about again at the end. The curries and veges would also be moved around tables so request for it if so desired. The staff were responsive and polite.
At the end of meal, I wanted to pay by card as it was RM53. But they don't accept cards. Mercifully, Mrs has. Basically, the meal would be RM48 excluding 2 drinks. If the Banana Leaf Rice plus Sambal Ikan Bilis was RM12, then the four dishes would be about RM6 each. Reasonable to me.
